Claim your Property Tax Exemption and Benefits!

The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) will be in Alamogordo on Wednesday, July 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the office of the Otero County Assessors, San Jose Senior Center, 1104 N White Sands Blvd., Alamogordo, NM 88310.

State Benefits personnel will be ready to assist eligible Veterans and unmarried widows/widowers applying for property tax waivers, exemptions, and park passes. Our Certified Veterans Service Officers will be on-site to assist with VA benefits claims and help with questions regarding VA healthcare eligibility and enrollment, disability compensation, and state benefits assistance.

Documents needed to verify eligibility:

• A copy of DD-214, NA 13038, NOAA Form 56-16, or PHS Form 1867
• VA Award Letter showing the percentage of disability and any other VA correspondence related to claiming benefits.
• NM Driver’s License, ID, voter registration card, or the most recent NM Personal Income Tax Return.

• Widow/Widower copy of marriage and death certificates.
