Media Advisory: Miguel Aguilar to be promoted to Major General by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham

SANTA FE, N.M. – Brig. Gen. Miguel Aguilar, the adjutant general of the New Mexico National Guard, will be promoted to the rank of Major General by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham at a ceremony hosted at the Santa Fe Military Complex, 47 Bataan Blvd, Santa Fe, NM 87508, on Friday, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m.
Aguilar, who retired from the New Mexico State Police, serves as senior military advisor to the governor and is responsible for providing the state of New Mexico and the United States with a ready force of Guardsmen and women.
Aguilar’s career began in 1990 as an air defense platoon leader in the New Mexico Army National Guard. He has held command leadership positions at all levels. Aguilar served as commander in support of the Multinational Force and Observers mission in Sinai, Egypt in 2012 and commanded the 111th Sustainment Brigade from November 2014 to October 2017.
Brigadier General Aguilar has been married for 21 years to his wife Christine. They have two children, Marina and Michael.
