Mayor’s Challenge Suicide Prevention Training

The City of Albuquerque Mayor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Veterans, Service Members and Their Families, along with the Army National Guard, is sponsoring an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) on June 11 and 12.

ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop—ASIST can be learned and used by anyone.

The cost to attend the training is free, however, you must submit an application to Shannon Chapman by June 5, 2019. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available by visiting the LivingWorks’ website to test for 12 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU). The cost for CEUs is $60.00 at the time you print your certificate.

ASIST Workshop Dates and Location:

  • 11-12 June, 2019; 8:00A.M. to 5:00P.M both days
  • New Mexico Army National Guard, Wyoming Armory
  • 600 Wyoming Blvd. NE
