DESCRIPTION:The New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) will begin
  a two-week daily curbside property tax certificate drive-up service in Al
 buquerque from April 19-23 from 1pm-4pm in the parking lot of its northeas
 t heights office at 5201 Eagle Rock NE.\nThe service continues April 26-30
  from 9am-noon.\nDVS staff\, wearing safety masks in adherence to ongoing 
 state COVID-19 safety protocol\, will provide curbside “car hop-style” ser
 vice for the filing of the state veterans property tax exemption or proper
 ty waiver for Bernalillo County veterans or unmarried surviving spouses of
  veterans. The veteran’s property tax exemption is a $4\,000 reduction off
  the taxable value of the primary residence of a veteran or unmarried surv
 iving spouse of a veteran. Veterans rated by the VA with a 100% service-co
 nnected permanent-and-total disability can have their property tax liabili
 ty waived.\nVeterans living in Bernalillo County may also be entitled to a
  $2\,000 “head of household” exemption offered by the county.\nDVS staff w
 ill print the necessary certificates needed while the veteran or unmarried
  surviving spouse of a veteran remain in their vehicles—who must wear a sa
 fety mask while being served by DVS staff.\nVeterans and surviving spouses
  of veterans must bring a copy of the veterans’ DD-214\, proof of residenc
 y\, and if claiming a disabled veteran tax waiver\, the VA award letter st
 ating 100% permanent and total disability.\n
